To replace an aging Joomla 1.0 site that I had helped create a few years back when I did an internship for the Chamber.  At that time (2007-08) I was not yet designing sites, but I was able to get some ideas I had including the enhanced Membership Directory & Event Calendar included in the previous site design.  As the designer of this new version of the site, the primary objective was to save existing content (manually, due to access issues on the old site) within a limited time frame (in the two days remaining before their previous host shut down) since backups did not exist & could not be created.  After I got the existing content loaded, I was able to make some changes & enhancements for the organization based on my previous experience assisting them as an Intern, and later, Volunteer Consultant.

Like all sites I design these days, this site utilizes a template I created in Artisteer.  In addition to the aforementioned content I'd gotten included in their last site, I added a Facebook fan box and a handy "Information Center" menu for quick & easy access to community and membership information.  The most important new element, however, may be the banner rotator on the front page, which allows the Chamber to easily highlight upcoming events and key website content with eye-catching graphics and one-click links.  The original set of rotator graphics were my design, with the organization able to add/remove banners as needed.
